I begin the creative process by collecting and drawing, developing a personal dialogue and intuitive approach in initiating and developing my work. I am intrigued by what makes an artwork resonate with the viewer and how it functions within a public space. I involve myself in producing work which engages with the city and its architecture, and siting it in a public space; social sculpture.
By abstracting architectural forms and referencing architectural paintings, I am inspired by the urban environment and its architecture. In creating the work I observe and develop my personal and instinctive reactions in discovering the material, exploring the material, creating imbalances and altering expectations. Strong durable and industrial material properties contrast delicate balanced compositions which bears little trace of process or labour. |
